Nordic Music Collection

The Nordic Music Collection was established at Ohio State University in 1987 at the invitation of the eminent choral director Norman Luboff, a friend of OSU. From its beginnings, until his recent retirement, it was curated by Stephen Long, of the OSU Music & Dance Library staff. The Collection consists primarily of scores and recordings by contemporary composers from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, though composers from previous periods are well represented. Most of the materials have been donated to the Collection by the music information centers and major publishing houses in these countries. Nordic Music Collection materials circulate under standard local and interlibrary loan rules. All Nordic Collection materials are cataloged to AACR2 standards on OCLC, and also appear in the OSU Library Catalog.

The scores are located in their own reserve shelving area and are organized according to the Library of Congress classification system; the recordings are interfiled in our Media Center collections. The OSU Library Catalog may be searched by call number, author (composers and performers), title, subject (form/genre), and keyword. For information, contact Alan Green, Head, Music & Dance Library (, or fax 614-247-6794.
