Picture this: Visual Methods to Enhance your Teaching

Friday, December 18th
9:30 am - 3pm
Thompson Library

During the 2015 Teaching In-Service attendees will learn:

  • To use images strategically to communicate ideas
  • An awareness of visual literacy standards
  • To find images that can be used in teaching
  • To consider how to use images in teaching

Participants from all areas of the Libraries and all levels of teaching and teaching support are welcome and encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there!

We are happy to welcome Nicole Brown as our keynote this year!

Nicole Brown is the Multidisciplinary Instruction Librarian at NYU, where she teaches research workshops to a variety of user groups and works to expand and strengthen the teaching role of librarians. Nicole has given presentations, workshops, and led professional development training on four continents and has written articles for Library Journal and Internet Reference Services Quarterly. Her research interests include innovative teaching practices and incorporating new literacies into teaching and learning environments. As a member of the ACRL Visual Literacy Task Force, she works to promote the integration of visual literacy into library instruction, and the forthcoming ALA Editions book, Visual Literacy for Libraries (Spring, 2016), co-written with the three other members of this ACRL Task Force demonstrates this dedication. Nicole earned her MLIS from the Pratt Institute in 2004 and attended the ACRL Immersion Program Track in 2008.
